Empowering today's youth for tomorrow's success!

Superintendent's Article - May 29, 2008

I want to send along my congratulations to the senior class of 2008 for their many memory-making contributions to our schools over the years. They have helped to perpetuate many long standing traditions of Louisville High School and the Louisville School District. Best of luck to all as you enter the next phase of your lives.

If you have not heard, High School English Teacher and Head Girls' Basketball Coach Jeff Couto recently received the coveted Clem Caraboolad Award from the Akron Beacon Journal at Akron's annual Touchdown Dinner. Mr. Couto was recognized because of his character, his coaching, and his accomplishments as our Girls' Basketball Coach for the past nine years. Well deserved Coach Couto!

A big thank you to the middle school staff and PTO for a great 8th grade farewell party last Friday. Over 200 of the 8th grade class students attended and had a great, fun-filled time. Congratulations to these 8th graders as they move over to the high school next year.

Congratulations are also extended to Coach Christine Muniak and the High School Girls' Track Team for winning a share of the NBC League Title at the league meet recently at Canton South. They won the meet and missed going undefeated in the league by two points. This is the first league championship in girls' track since 1980. Way to go Leopard Tracksters!

The Louisville Board of Education and Administration continue to work through the final Master Plan draft with the State OSFC in order to have it approved over the summer. It offers many possibilities, and with the state match of over $35 million, it is a plan that we should positively consider. Questions may be sent to my email address at lepley@louisville.sparcc.org. Also, you can look at our website to get more information about this project.

As we finalize plans for summer, we are offering enrichment classes and intervention classes, as well as OGT preparation classes during the summer months. Please contact your school building for the classes available.

Have a great week. Go Leopards!
