District Update

In a study of insurance plans across the State of Ohio, the Ohio Educators Association (OEA) gave a very favorable review to the Stark County COG insurance plan, of which 16 of the 17 school districts in the county belong. There are over 14,000 school employees that belong and includes many districts beyond Stark County. This insurance plan allows for member input into design changes by having the OEA representative meet with the Chairman and if an agreement is reached the changes go forward. Control of the COG remains within the group of members.

A fact finding report is due to be delivered to the LEA and the Board soon. Although non binding, each side will have 7 days to approve or reject the recommendations of the fact finder. If approved by both sides, it becomes contract along with the other items already agreed to by both sides in earlier negotiation sessions. Once voted, the document is a public record.
